- What is whereslunch.org? whereslunch.org is a site
designed to help you find places to eat lunch.
- Why does the site look bad in Internet Explorer? Unfortunately, Internet Explorer often renders content differently than other
browsers. I personally use Firefox,
but Safari and Opera are also good options. Everything should work in IE7 and
above - if not, drop me an email at greg.stoll@gmail.com.
- Why isn't my city available? Because no one's added it yet! If you're interested in adding restaurants in your city, email greg.stoll@gmail.com with the name of your city and I'll add it to the database.
- How was whereslunch.org made? whereslunch.org is based on the open-source framework Django, which is written in Python. I used the jQuery JavaScript library extensively, including the UI toolkit for the tabs
and sliders. The map is an embedded version of a Google map.
- How do I adjust the position of a restaurant location? Open the location marker. If you're the owner, you should see an "Enable dragging" link in the popup. Click that link, then drag the marker. After you're done, click "Disable dragging".
- How do I cancel a rating I've given to a restaurant? Click on the "User Ratings" tab and find the restaurant. (or click on
a location on the map) Click the
icon to cancel your rating.
- How do I use the "Filtering" tab? The "Filtering" tab lets you control which restaurants are displayed on the map. You can
control the allowable range for each attribute with the sliders.
You can also choose to only display restaurants that match at least one of the tags below.
- How do I add my own restaurants? Once you're logged
in, click "Add/manage restaurants" to get started. There you can add a
new restaurant or restaurant location, or edit one you created earlier.
- What do the rating bars under the restaurant details mean? The bars represent the distribution of ratings given by all
users. The green bar is the rating you gave it.
